“I Let The Subject Matter Drive The Sound” Will Carter Talks New Album

Will Carter’s father had dreams of his son growing up to be a football player. At a young age, Will was “put in everything from gymnastics to ballet to work on agility”. However, once Will was selected to perform the national anthem at a competition, a new love for music was found. Carter has been working to make this dream a reality ever since.

“Raised on a blend of country and rock”, Carter is the perfect fit for the modern Texas Country scene. When it comes to the sound of his own music, Carter isn’t too stubborn telling Worlds Of Country that he “let’s the subject matter drive the sound”. This willingness to be flexible shows Carter to be an artist willing to take risks and advance, all while staying true to himself as an artist.

Carter’s new album How Ya Know has a “theme of love” that runs throughout the project, as Carter reminisces on meeting his now wife. Carter cites the title track and You Feel Like Home as personal favorites on the project, due to their “honesty and personal significance”. You Feel Like Home scored Carter his first top 10 hit at Texas Country Radio, and Carter is hopeful that How Ya Know will be his first chart topper once it impacts at radio.

For Carter it’s right back to work getting his next album ready. Carter tells Worlds Of Country that “parts of the album are already in the production stage” and that there “are a few songs left to write”.
