“Practice, practice, and more practice”, is the mantra Tyler Kuhner carries with him as he works tirelessly to pursue his musical dream. From his first picking up a guitar at the age of 14 Kuhner fell in love with music and knew he had to find some way to make a life out his newfound love. Kuhner’s newest single, “Beer With You” is a tribute to his brother who passed away at the age of 17, throughout the song Kuhner reminisces about the memories they were able to make together and those they sadly weren’t, like sitting down and drinking a beer. “Beer With You” showcases Kuhner’s willingness to be vulnerable as an artist and allows his storytelling ability to take center stage throughout the song.
Recently, we had the chance to chat with Kuhner about “Beer With You”, his musical journey, and more.
Worlds Of Country; When did you know that you wanted to pursue music?
Tyler: When I first picked up the guitar at 14 years old. I instantly fell in love with it.
Worlds Of Country: Once you knew, what was your first step towards making this dream a reality?
Tyler: Practice, practice and more practice. I was constantly taking notes, learning everything I could and studying the greats and their craft.
Worlds Of Country: Who would you say are your biggest musical influences?
Tyler: That’s tough. I grew up listening to a lot of Bon Jovi, Garth Brooks and such. I enjoy them and more from them at era to this day but I also pull influences from Thomas Rhett, Nick Jonas and a lot of today’s country stars.
Worlds Of Country: How would you describe your sound?
Tyler: Modern country/rock with a hint of pop as well. Fun, upbeat story telling.
Worlds Of Country: What’s the story behind your new song, “Beer With You”?
Tyler: “Beer With You” was written in tribute to my brother that passed away 11/12/17. He was only 17. We grew up playing music together but never had the chance to sit down, talk memories and have a beer together. This song is also for anyone who has lost a love one and never had a chance to share a beer with that person.
Worlds Of Country: What’s next for you?
Tyler: I’ll be playing in Chillicothe, Ohio at the Tristan Miller Music Fest September 11th (Fest in honor of my brother) and am in hopes of releasing a full length album soon!
